Phone rings --"Mom" calling

me: Hello?
Mom: If you drive to _______ today you're stupid.
me: (taken aback) uh... ok
Mom: There's some serious rain here. I'm driving downtown and I can barely see.
me: It's not raining here.
Mom: Well, maybe it's clearing out.
me: I'll check online before I come down.
Mom: Ok. I just would hate for you to get stranded in some bad weather.
(pause)
me: Well... hello.
Mom: Hi.
          Ok, I've got to go, now. Talk to you later.
